US president Barrack Obama's family at Kogelo, in Siaya County, failed to travel for yesterday's second inauguration ceremony. Obama's grandmother, Mama Sarah Obama, was at her Nyang'oma, Kogello, rural home running her usual errands.

Efforts to get her comment over the issue hit a dead end after her phone went unanswered. The family spokesperson Councillor Nicholas Rajula was the only distant relative who travelled for the ceremony.

Obama's elder brother, Malik Abong'o, said he was busy organising for his Siaya County governor bid launch. "My brother's inauguration celebration has come at a crucial time when we are doing final touches on my governor's bid launch scheduled soon," said Abong'o.
