Tana Delta residents have asked the Government to transfer teachers who hail from the two rival communities. A youth leader, Dara Ali, said it had become difficult for the teachers to perform duty due to fear.

Dara said the Government should deploy teachers who are from outside the area for better performance. He said the education department will remain strong even in the face of violence.

"Teachers who do not hail from the communities can teach in any school without hindrance and education will continue," he said. Most schools in the region at primary and secondary level have been closed due to the clashes.
