Somalia - Puntland Leaders Send Condolences for Death of Former Vice President

Garowe — The late vice president of Puntland died of an illness in Nairobi overnight Monday.

Puntland President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole, who is currently on a visit in Djibouti, sent condolences to the family, friends and to the people of Puntland.

Puntland Vice President and Acting President Gen. Abdisamad Ali Shire told reporters in the Puntland capital of Garowe on Tuesday that the late Vice President was "a man of integrity", while noting that the Puntland state flag would fly at half-mast for three days in honor of the late Vice President.

The late leader, Hassan Dahir Mohamud (Afqura), served his term as Vice President of Puntland between 2005-2008, during the term of former Puntland President Gen. Adde Muse Hersi.

Mr. Hassan Dahir also served for six years as a Member of Parliament in Puntland.
