Somali security forces in the south-western town of Luq arrested four suspected militants and recovered five hand grenades on Monday (January 21st), UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
The suspects were stopped for routine security checks when the grenades were found in their donkey cart, said area security chief Diyad Abdi Kalil.
One of the suspects confessed that the grenades were to be used for attacks on high-ranking government officials in Luq, Kalil said, adding that security forces will continue efforts to thwart similar attacks.
