TNA party has disputed claims that Othaya MP aspirant Ms Mary Wambui has been denied a nomination certificate. The party, through its chairman Johnson Sakaja said that the nomination certificate to the Othaya parliamentary seat has not been issued pending resolution of an appeal filed by Ms Wambui's opponent, Gichuki Mugambi.

The statement says, "the National Alliance Party (TNA) wants to state that Ms Mary Wambui won the nominations on January 19 2013. However, aspirant Gichuki Mugambi registered a dispute, which was resolved in Ms Wambui's favour. But Mr Mugambi appealed and this is what is pending. Ms Wambui, therefore, has NOT been denied a certificate."

Sakaja said that the party respects the will of the people of Othaya and asked them be patient as the party and other organs deal with the matter. According to the IEBC calendar political parties should have resolved the nominations disputes and forwarded their final list to the IEBC by midnight on Monday.

Meanwhile, Nyeri South DC David Koskei has been transferred three days after the area's TNA nomination results were released contoversially. Koskei yesterday handed over to Eliud Matundura, who was posted to the area from the neighbouring Mathioya district. Koskei was transfered to Igembe district in Meru. "It's true I have been transferred and I am now heading to Meru. That's what I can say for now," Koskei said on the phone.

It is not clear whether his transfer was occassioned by the confusion that marred the TNA nominations in Othaya. Reports say area DO Hellen Chege has also been transferred to Kiambu. The fate of area police boss Adiel Nyange and Othaya police station chief Jackson Kiema is not unknown. Hundreds of TNA supporters were on Friday locked out of the nominations at Boma polling station near Othaya town.
