The trial of Genocide suspected Leon Mugesera was today postponed until Jan.28 after the defendant claimed sickness.

Appearing before the Special Chamber of the High Court, Mugesera who spoke with a hoarse voice said he wanted to see his doctor.

"I was supposed to see a doctor yesterday but my appointment was cancelled because he was not in town, today I woke up with a hoarse voice yet I need to be in proper health to proceed with my trial," he said.

His lawyer, Felix Rudakemwa asked the court to adjourn the trial indefinitely until his client recovers.

But Prosecutor Jean Bosco Mutangana objected to this and asked court to instruct the doctor to provide a medical report showing the gravity of the sickness.

Judge Athanase Bakuzakundi ruled that the hearing should resume next Monday.
