Algeria: Algiers Court Postpones Belmokhtar Trial

Algeria postponed until March a terrorism trial involving former al-Qaeda emir Mokhtar Belmokhtar, Liberte reported on Tuesday (January 22nd).

The Algiers court will try ten defendants in absentia, including Belmokhtar (aka "Laaouar") and "Tariq ibn Ziyad" brigade leader Abou Zeid (aka Hamid Essoufi).

Abou Zeid led the capture of the Malian town of Diabaly, while Belmokhtar claimed credit for the bloody assault on the Algerian gas facility.
