Nigeria: Plateau Assembly Set to Pass 2013 Budget

Plateau State House of Assembly is set to pass the state's 2013 budget into law.

Speaker of the House, Hon John Clark Dabwan disclosed this Wednesday during a plenary session: the first this year, after the House members went on recess last December.

Governor Jonah Jang had last December presented the sum of N133 billion budget proposal for the 2013 financial year before the House members .

It was gathered that the lawmakers were expected to resume sitting on the 29th of January, but suddenly cut short their break to give accelerated debate on the budget.

Dabwan said that the state Government had awarded contract for a major renovation of the House of Assembly complex to enhance performance of the House, adding that the lawmakers will relocate to the Government House, Rayfield to enable it continue sitting and discharge its legitimate mandate during the renovation.
