The trial of Leon Mugesera at the high court was suspended on Wednesday due to illness of defendant, and the presiding judge has scheduled the next session for January 28.

"I am feeling feeble and for that matter I would like to ask the court to give me time to see the doctor," Mugesera announced without disclosing any details of his illness. Yet he reminded the judge that he informed the court two days ago that he was not in good shape.

The court granted his request saying that the defendant has the legal right to ask for postponement to get medical attention.

The judges, defense counsels and the prosecution will meet next Monday to assess Mugesera's health situation and continue the trial if possible.
