Sambou Sambou, aka "Sambou the Unstoppable", has finally decided to answer to the long standing call from his fans to release an album. He has so far recorded about 25 singles and shot some video clips but sent only a few to radio stations and the reason for which, he said, is not to put his songs where they will not earn him anything.
Sambou the Unstoppable is now ready to storm the county with his long awaited album called 'One Step Ahead' in this New Year.
According to Sambou, he has graduated at Gambia High School and later went to Stratford College to further his education. He started music in 2002 and travelled to Germany to his uncle who is working there as a music producer. It was this uncle who had helped him to record his first single. Though the song was never aired, it was this song that motivated him to take up music as a profession. So for the past 10 years, he has been in the music scene and mostly engaged in researched.
The Gambia R&B star's songs do always remind Gambians of the US-based Senegalese Super Star, Akon, as many said he is trying to imitate the star.
On his part, this is what he has to share: "Well at first, I will be like complaining but my manager talked to me the other day and he said "Look! Akon is a world super star so to sound like him is something that you should be proud of." I would like to take this opportunity to make this clear that I am 'me'. I do my own music and I am trying to have my own originality. So I don't copy Akon, even though I may sound like him."
The Unstoppable is also a producer. He creates beats and records songs for other artists too. He said being an artist and a producer at the same time makes him a better artist as he can now play both the keyboard and guitar.
Talking about his coming album, the 25 year old R&B star disclosed that the album will be mainly sponsored by him and his management, the Genesis Revolution, together with his crew, the Hud Classic. The album, he further revealed, will be produced by Lesley Godens from Sierra Leone and Hakim, one of Gambia's biggest producers. He said there are plans to do a song with Hakim later, adding that he had some collaboration with other Gambian artists which is going to feature in the album.
Sambou said both Lesley and Hakim have promised that the album will be one of the greatest if not the greatest ever produced in the Gambia.
In a final note, Sambou thanked all his loyal fans for being patient over the past 4 years since he released his two famous songs called 'So Long' and 'Heal Your Heart'. He promised them that this is their year.
