Kenya: Negligence and Failure By Senior Police Made It Possible for Waiganjo to Infiltrate Police

Negligence and failure to follow protocol by senior police officers in Rift Valley when executing their duties may have made it easier for police imposter Joshua Waiganjo to act as a senior police officer undetected. The probe team investigating Waiganjo heard that the identity of security officers who flew to Baragoi was only ascertained after they had boarded the police chopper. Kenya Police Commandant Rodgers Munene said that it was the then PPO John Mbijiwe's duty to know members of his security team including Waiganjo.
