Liberia: 'I Was Never Asked to Refund Money'

Minister Nelson has clarified that the House of Representatives never asked him to refund US$50,000 when he and Montserrado County Superintendent appeared before the legislators Tuesday to answer questions regarding the County Development Fund.

There are reports each county was given U$50,000 and the Internal Affairs Ministry was given the same amount, but Minister Nelson told this paper Wednesday : "I was never asked to refund the money."

Even though he said he has not been asked to restitute the amount, Minister Nelson told this paper that he used the amount to purchase a bus, chairs, air conditional and other equipment to renovate the ministry.
