Kenya: Robbers Injure Kitale-Based Kass Reporter

A reporter in Kitale was yesterday night seriously injured at their home in Cherang'any by a group of criminals.

Valentine Biego, Kass FM and Kass Weekly Kitale reporter, was attacked at around 2 AM after criminals hit their house door with heavy stones.

Speaking from her hospital bed at Cherang'any hospital where she is undergoing treatment, Biego said she was hit on the forehead and an X-ray showed that her skull was seriously injured.

She said at the time of her attack, she was at home with her younger sister who was not injured. She said the criminal too hers and her sister's mobile phones, a DVD player and an unknown number of bags of maize.

Immediate former MP Joshua Kuttuny condemned the incident saying it could be politically motivated after threats by some politicians to a number of journalists in the area. He urged police to conduct thorough investigations and bring the culprits to book.
