Somalia Beats Burundi, Advances to Basketball Semi-Finals

Somalia's national men's basketball team beat Burundi 98-80 in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday (January 23rd), advancing to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Somalia's Horseed Media reported.

"It has been a very long time since our people have enjoyed such a victory" said president of the Somali Sports Press Association and vice president of the Somali Basketball Federation Abdi Aziz Godah Barre. "The Somali Basketball Federation, with the help of its former players and members of the diaspora community, has spent a lot in building such a strong national team whose performance has made all Somalis happy."

The win follows a 81-78 victory over Kenya on Tuesday. The Somali team will face Rwanda on Friday.
