Tanzania: Global Engineers Open Office in Dar es Salaam

FEDERATION of Consulting Engineers Worldwide (FIDIC) has opened an office in Dar es Salaam. FIDIC President, Eng. Geoff French opened the office.

Addressing a news conference during the launching ceremony, Eng. French said the office would be used by the Association of Consulting Engineers Tanzania (ACET) to provide services on consultancy related to that profession.

"The office would serve Africans by acquiring consultation, advocacy and trainings in order to improve skills among the African engineers," he said. Eng. French said the aim of launching the office in Dar es Salaam was also to ensure the engineers acquire all the required services including materials to strengthen the organization.

The President of ACET, Eng. Menye Manga, said the number of engineers is decreasing due to lack of proper services including trainings and consultation services. Eng. Manga said that the office would be providing short courses, consolations and advocacy issues to Tanzania and the rest of African engineers.
