Nigeria: South East in Darkness Over Work On Benin-Onitsha Transmission Line

Following the on-going connection of a new double circuit 330kv transmission line from Benin, Edo State to Onitsha, Anambra State, there would be a two days power blackout in the Eastern states of the country, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said.

According to a statement yesterday by the Company's Assistant General Manager (Public Affairs), Mr. Dave Ifabiyi, the development is in the bid to complete the final connection works on the new double circuit 330kV transmission line from Benin to Onitsha, and the associated substation at Onitsha.

States to be affected by the connection work-induced power outage include Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo as well as part of Benue State. The affected states would experience total power outage on Saturday, 26th and Sunday, 27th January, 2013, the statement said.
