Nigeria: Former Heads of State, Northern Govs Shun Northern Peace Summit

Four former head of state: Alhaji Shehu Shagari and Generals Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar and all the 19 northern governors were absent at a summit organised by a group, Northern Development Focus Initiative (NDFI), to look into the issues affecting the region.

The summit only had former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari in attendance along with the deputy governors of Kano, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his counterpart from Niger state, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto.
