Kenya: North Rift Protest As National Office Calls Off Mini-League

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) North Rift branch is planning to boycott the national office fixtures after it cancelled the mini-league meant to promote clubs to Nationwide One league.

Western zone and Eastern zone mini-league had been scheduled for this weekend in Kakamega and Meru respectively. North Rift is part of the Western Zone, which comprises of Rift Valley, Western and Nyanza provinces. Eastern zone has Nairobi, North Eastern, Coast and Eastern.

North Rift branch secretary, Joseph Dolly, said they received a communication from the head office cancelling the mini-league with the intention of promoting top club in the each province.

"Officials from Eastern zone were opposed to the mini-league and had been pestering head office to cancel it and use another criteria of promotion, and this week, we were told the event has been cancelled," Dolly said.
