Angola: President Wants to Turn Kuando Kubango Province Into 'Land of Progress'

Menongue — The governor of the south-east Kuando Kubango province, Higino Carneiro, said Wednesday that the Head of State José Eduardo dos Santos wants to turn the region into "Lands of Progress, through the full implementation of projects suitable for the purpose, in the coming years of governance."

The governor stated so during the presentation of the Strategic Development Plan for 2013-2017 of the province.

The official presented the project to the 17 cabinet Ministers for the social and economic sectors, which prioritizes the promotion of tourism, practical development of the sectors of education, health, communication ways, demining along the areas infected with landmines, among other key sectors.

According to Higino Carneiro, the submission of plan is intended to collect contributions and possible corrections, as well as the inclusion of other relevant factors, before delivery to the Head of State for approval.

He said that the follows the guidelines expressed by the President, for the submission before the end of the current month, of the strategic development plan of Kubango for 2013-2017 period.
