Nigeria: Yuguda Assures of Security of Worshippers in Bauchi

Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda yesterday said the government would guarantee maximum security to all its citizens as they fulfill their religious obligations.

The governor gave the assurance in his congratulatory message to Muslims celebrating the Eid-el-Maulud in commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

He said his government would provide the necessary protection during the worship of their God at any time and wherever they choose to do it.

Yuguda said the government was working hand in hand with all stakeholders towards ensuring lasting peace in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor recently increased the number of district and ward heads in the state.

This, the government said, was done to maintain security and bring government closer to the people.

Yuguda reminded Muslims to live according to the tenets of the Quran and the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad.

He said that the Prophet lived a virtuous life worthy of emulation.

Yuguda also said there was need for peaceful co-existence among the adherents of different religious faiths.

He said this is necessary because "peace is a prerequisite for any meaningful development".

Similarly, the Speaker of the Bauchi House of Assembly, Alhaji Yahya Miya, also urged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the ways of life of Prophet Muhammad."
