Kenya is among 64 countries invited for the 11th annual Homeless World Cup scheduled for August 10-18 in Poznan, Poland. Out of the total, 48 will take part in the men's competition while 16 will compete for honour in the women's edition.
Kenya last took part in the 2011 edition where the men's team finished fourth while the women's side emerged champions. Financial constraints locked the team out of last year's event which took place in Mexico with Chile winning the men's edition and hosts clinching the women's trophy.
The tournament, organized by the Homeless World Cup Foundation, uses the power of football to energise homeless people to change their lives. It supports grass-roots football programmes and social enterprise development via a network of 70 national Partners.
