The National Elections Commission (NEC) has ended a two-day Regional Consultation on the Implementation of the Six-year Civic and Voters Education Strategy for Liberia. The consultation was held in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County and brought together 50 participants from Sinoe, Rivercess and Grand Bassa Counties.
Topics discussed at the consultative meeting include the Civic voters Education Road map of the National Elections Commission and the general overview of the strategic planning process of the CVE framework.
The CVE Strategic Plan is contained in the overall six-year Strategic Plan of the National Elections Commission which covers the period 2012 to 2014. The Buchanan Consultation was the second in a series of regional consultations being conducted by the National Elections Commission.
The first was held in December in Tubmanburg, Bomi County and brought together participants from Bomi, Grand Cape Mount and Gbapolu counties. At the same time, the NEC in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the European Union has ended a five-day Planning Training Workshop for senior staff of the institution.
The training was conducted by the Accra based West Africa Bureau of the Management for Development Foundation (MDF). The objective of the training was to enable senior staff of the Commission understand performance management; formulate actions for change at personal and organizational level; understand the Integrated Organization Model for analyzing organizations and make a connection between Logical Framework and Results based management.
The trainees were also drilled in the essential elements of Project Cycle management. The Director of the West Africa Bureau of the Management Development Foundation, Marie Jose' Niesten, was chief facilitator of the workshop while a Training Consultant at the Foundation, William Sabi, served as facilitator.
Twenty-Six divisional and sectional heads of the NEC drawn from Field Coordination, Civic/Voter Education, Public Information, Training, Political Liaison, Audit IT and other sections participated in the workshop.
The participants received certificates at the close of the workshop. The training workshop was in concert with the Capacity Building Pillar of the Six-Year Strategic Plan of the Commission.
