Cricket Kenya have refused to approve and sanction the proposed Cricket Wars festival organised by Dream Factory for February 1-3. However, the organisers insist the event will go on at the Nairobi Gymkhana.
A statement from CK said the board considered Dream Factory (K) Ltd's application to host the festival in great detail but regretted the information provided did not adequately address International Cricket Council concerns and guidelines for the hosting of such events.
"In view of this Cricket Kenya was unable to approve and sanction the said tournament," the statement said. The statement added: "Cricket Kenya are committed to promoting the game in the country and should Dream Factory (K) Ltd wish to host another tournament we would be happy to consider the same, subject to the hosting guidelines being met," the statetment added.
A spokesman for the organisers said the festival is aimed at introducing a new dimension to the game that, it is felt, has gone down much to the disappointment of sponsors.
