A faction of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has disassociated itself from calls by some health workers for the removal of the Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, saying those behind the call were using the union as a platform to pursue their selfish interest.
In an advertorial signed by the Coordinators, Committee for the Campaign for the Good of the Health Workers (CCGHW), Joshua Mende, Akachukwu Ukoha and A. A. Borishade , it stated that the union has derailed from its set objectives of fighting for the welfare of its members and is now indulging into politics.
The statement alleged that some persons were using the union to extort money from opposition politicians and using its members as articles of trade to distort activities in the health sector.
According to the JOHESU faction headed by Mende, the health workers' demand have been muddled with other demands that were of no significance to the workers.
