Bwari residents Wednesday experienced the first rain of the year. The heavy down pour which started at about 4:30pm, lasted for about thirty minutes.
Residents spoken to said the rain was accompanied by slight windstorm, which did not cause major damages.
Our reporter learnt from the residents that prior to the downpour, residents of Bwari town experienced intensed heat in the community.
Mrs. Rekiya Aliyu informed our reporter that the heat forced residents to sleep outside their homes or leave their windows wide open. She expressed gratitude to God for the rain, adding that its coming will reduce the heat.
Another resident, who gave his name as Sesan, narrated how some hoodlums stole his phone from his window, which was open due to the heat.
"There was serious heat on Tuesday night and I left my window open but to my surprise some people used stick to pick my phone through the window in the midnight. We thanked God for the rain because the heat will reduce," he said.
Some farmers also expressed joy over the rain and said they will start clearing their farmland in preparation for this year's farming season.
