Angola: Musician Yuri DA Cunha Pays Compensation to Artur Nunes' Family

Luanda — The Angolan singer Yuri da Cunha paid financial compensation to the family of Arthur Nunes due to the use of the artist's works on his latest album entitled "Yuri da Cunha canta Artur Nunes", said Thursday in Luanda the National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC).

In a press release sent to ANGOP, the legal Office of UNAC added that the fact is the result of negotiations between the two parties that led to the agreement, but it would not reveal the amount.

The CD "Yuri da Cunha canta Artur Nunes" has nine tracks, all sung in quimbundu vernacular language.

Stress goes to the themes as "Ku muxito", "Zinha", "Mana", "Tia", "Mukila uami", "Kalumba kami", "Dituzu", Kizua ki ngi fua" and "Njila ia kuaku".

The first edition recorded in Angola produced 18,000 copies of the work.
