Gambia: Mbassey Darboe Named 'Best Female Player' in Brikama

Mbassey Darboe of New Town female team has been awarded the best player in Brikama Female league after helping New Town female team to make a solid mark in the first-ever Brikama Female league where they lost to Berewuleng female team 2-0 in the final recently.

Mbassey was decorated with wonderful accolades after her brilliant display for New Town female team, scoring the desired goals for her side in the group and semi-final stages of the first-ever female league.

Mbassey was awarded with a trophy and a certificate for her excellent performance in the female league championship.

The championship was organised by Brikama Youth and Sports Association (BYSA) in their bid to promote and develop female football in the country, after the country's dismal performance in the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women World Cup hosted in Azerbaijan.
