The Interior Ministry called on demonstrators in Qasr el-Nile not to attack the security men or barriers that aim to protect the public and private properties in this region.
In a statement on Thursday 24/01/2013, the ministry urged all protesters to commit to peaceful demonstrations.
Qasr el-Nile police station chief, a brigadier general of the central security forces and a police officer at Cairo security directorate were injured with gunshots during clashes with protesters.
The protesters wanted to remove cement blocs at Qasr el-Eini Street, downtown Cairo, a security source at the Interior Ministry said on Thursday 24/01/2013.
They hurled stones and fired gunshots at the security forces stationed behind the cement wall, leaving two conscripts injured in face, the source added.
