Kenya: Uasin Secondary Schools Games Set for March 16

Uasin Gishu County Secondary School Sports Association (UGSSSA) Term One Games will be held on March 16 at various schools in Eldoret. The games will feature athletics, basketball, netball, swimming and rugby 15-aside.

Organisers said preparations for the competition are at an advanced stage, adding that they have already identified several venues for the various disciplines.

Hill School will host rugby 15 and netball while Moi Girls will play host to swimming. Basketball will be played at Bishop Delany with athletics being staged at Chepkoilel.

"Preparations for the competition are ongoing and at the moment, teams are training hard for the show. This is the region which produces junior athletes for the country and we are hopeful they will go all the way to international stage," Uasin Gishu County Secondary School Association (UGSSSA) chairman, Patrick Kipkenda said.

He said the respective schools will host their zonal and district competitions in February to select the teams for the county championships. "Zonal games will be held not later than February 16 while districts will be held between February 22-23," he added.
