Nigeria: Explosion Kills Four, Injures 20 in Ota

No fewer than four persons were Friday feared dead, while 20 others sustained serious injuries in an explosion that rocked a factory in Ijako area of Sango-Ota, Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Saturday Vanguard gathered that one of the boilers of a distilling company located along the Lagos - Abeokuta expressway caused the explosion which vibration led to the falling of the perimeter fences of the neighbouring companies.

Some co-workers of the victims who spoke with newsmen lamented the loss of their four colleagues.

At the scene of the incident, Saturday Vanguard saw two ambulances of the neighbouring companies evacuating both the injured and the dead to the hospital.

Some of them were however, said to have been rejected by a private hospital at Ogba - Ayo in Sango before they were later taken to Ifo General Hospital for treament.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident but said only two died.
