Angola/Cape Verde: Former Skipper Wants Gilberto and Djalma in Starting Team

Johannesburg — André Makanga, former skipper of the Angolan senior males football squad said he thinks Gilberto, Djalma and Marco Airosa should be in the starting team on Sunday, in the game with Cape Verde, for the third round of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON2013), stressing that this arrangement can make the midfield stronger and that there might be better articulation among the three sectors.

Speaking to the press, from Qatar, midfielder André Makanga said the next game will be very difficult , because Cape Verde is a very organized team tactically, with talented players.

In his opinion, Angola can win the next game and move past the group stage, as long as te coach does the right changes in the squad.

"Players with the experience of Gilberto should not stay in the bench, people talk a lot about renewal, but this should not be done 50 per cent, much less in a competition like this, in which one finds the best players of the continent", he explained.

André Makanga represented Angola in the African championships of 2006 (Egypt), 2008 (Ghana) and 2012 (Equatorial Guinea and Gabon).

Angola is in group A of the AFCON2013 of South Africa.
