Zambia: Man Kills Wife, Child

A villager in Mongu has allegedly murdered his wife and their two-year-old son whom he dumped in the plains.

Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela said the incident happened on Thursday around 13:00 hours at Muleta Village.

The suspect, Mubiana Simunji, 32, is alleged to have beaten his wife identified as Namakau Konga, 25, and the toddler before dumping them in the Zambezi plains where they drowned.

"The victims were beaten by the suspect using fists and kicks after a dispute. It is believed that they were later dumped in the plains and drowned.

The bodies are in Lewanika General Hospital awaiting post-mortem and burial," Ms Kanjela said.

The suspect was apprehended.
