Uganda: Judge, Bad Black Both Fail to Show Up for Case

Kampala — The case in which city socialite Shanita Namuyimba aka Bad Black is charged with traffic offences was Friday adjourned to next month.

Namuyimba's trial which was scheduled for Friday at City Hall Court in Kampala was pushed further because the presiding judge, Juliet Hatanga, was attending a seminar at Ridar Hotel in Seeta.

The accused failed to turn up in court with claims that she has not returned from abroad where she went for a breast operation.

The Court of Appeal last year granted her bail to travel to Dubai to have her breast implants replaced.

Following confirmation by a doctor, the city socialite was allowed to go and receive medical attention.

Prior, the doctor was summoned by court to explain Namuyimba's situation.

Prosecution alleges that on December 4, 2011, the accused hit a motorcycle and damaged it along Acacia Avenue in Kampala.

Three people riding atop the motorcycle were injured. The trio was: Ismail Nsamba, the rider, his wife Fatuma Namusoke and their six-month-old baby Jamila Namulindwa.

The complainant said that compensation has never been reached although negotiations between them and Namuyimba are still on.

The court clerk extended the criminal summons to February 18, 2013 for further hearing.
