Angola: Over 26 Million Angolans to Play Sports By 2024

Lubango — The Ministry of Youth and Sports will implement until 2024 programmes to promote and spread sports countrywide, with the objective of integrating over 26 million sports persons, announced Friday, in Lubango City, southern Huila Province, the secretary of State for Sports, Albino da Conceição.

Delivering a lecture on "Strategies to develop sports in Angola", in the ambit of the National Sports Day, marked last Wednesday, the secretary of State revealed that this programme is to start this year.

Albino da Conceição disclosed that the Youth and Sports Ministry has created a technical team that will work with the provincial governments to monitor the implementation of the programme.

He assured that his institution is concerned about the situation of sports in Angola, reason why it will start working in the training of staffs and rehabilitation of infrastructures, adding that besides football fields, the government will build training infrastructures to provide training in athletics, handball, basketball and volleyball, among others.
