Angola: Eighth International Congress of Physicians in Angola Continues

Luanda — The 8th International Congress of Physicians in Angola running since Friday in Luanda under the motto "Health in Angola, present and future," continued into its second day on Saturday.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the Health minister, José Vieira Van-Dúnem said he believed that the implementation of health development plan 2012-2015 will reduce the "inequities and asymmetries related to the access and quality of the service", facilitating the proximity to health care.

The official added that this document, which strengthens the action guidelines against priority diseases, further defines the strategies to improve maternal and child health.

The participants, including physicians, provincial directors and district administrators, are discussing various health issues such as "child health", "Overview and Future", "Women's health", "Epidemiology of diabetes in Africa.

They are also analysing "Potential etiological agents" and "hospital infections and its antibiotic susceptibility patterns in hospitalised patients".

The event is taking place simultaneously with a medical hospital fair.
