Rwanda: Kagere Returns to Police FC

The second round of the National Football League gets underway on Saturday with table leaders Police FC facing La Jeunesse at Mumena stadium as the champions APR FC travel to Rubavu to take on Marines at Umuganda stadium.

Police leads the table standings with 28 points and need to win to maintain their grip on top spot to boost their hopes of winning a first league title.

However, coach Goran Kopunovic will be without impressive midfielder Mussa Mutuyimana, who is serving a one match suspension. But striker Meddie Kagere will be making his first appearance of the season since returning from the financially struggling Tunisian side Esperance de Zarzis. The Uganda-born striker will lead the attack wing alongside his successor captain Peter Kagabo.

La Jeunesse, who have just released three players Niyigena Madjaliwa, Juma Bizimana and Hakim Mutabazi this month, are in sixth position with 21 points after 13 matches.

Meanwhile, the last time APR travelled to Western Province, they were forced to a goalless draw against Etincelles.

The military side will miss services of defender Emery Bayisenge, who is still undergoing trials in Belgium but to coach Eric Nshimiyimana he is ready to give chance to other players. Either Francois Habyarimana or Heritier Turatsinze is likely to take up his place in central defence.

Four matches will be played on Sunday with AS Kigali hosting Mukura at Stade de Kigali, Rayon Sport, who have recruited heavily this month, play away to Amagaju, while Espoir host SC Kiyovu in Rusizi.
