Uganda: UCC Launches Third Innovation Awards

The Uganda Communications Commission has launched the third edition of the Annual Communications Innovation awards (ACIA), for the year 2013.

The awards seek to promote and recognize innovation. ACIA is also intended to inspire and challenge Ugandans to stretch their imagination and adapt skills that transform society. Award categories include the young ICT awards (for secondary school students and tertiary or vocational institutions). Other award categories include the business excellence award, ICT for development award, service excellence award and digital content award.

Godfrey Mutabazi, the Executive Director of UCC, says the ACIA comes with many benefits in terms of certificates, trophies, school fees, apprenticeship, financial contribution and international exposure. Mutabazi encouraged many people to seize the opportunity and platform to exploit their potential. He also called upon different stakeholders to sponsor award categories of their choice.

Interested persons can submit entries to UCC online not later than April 30, 2013. The award ceremony will be held on June 7, 2013.
