Kenya: Mob Attacks Busia 'Gang' Injures One

A thirty year old robbery suspect sustained serious injuries when he was attacked by enraged residents at Bugeng'i market in Busia district.

The robbery suspect was in the company of three people who were ambushed while meeting at a nearby home where they were allegedly strategizing on how to carry out the theft.

The suspect was grabbed by the enraged residents whereas two of his accomplices managed to escape from the enraged members of the public

Busia OCPD Kenneth Kimani cautioned the members of the public against taking the law into their own hands saying they should instead hand over suspected criminals to the police.

"It is an offense on the part of the members of the public to carry out mob justice on suspected criminals. They should instead hand over suspected criminals to the police so they can carry out investigations and if found guilty, the law will definitely take its rightful course," said the police boss.

The suspect was taken to the Busia district hospital for medical attention where he is undergoing treatment as the police carry out investigations.
