Namibia: Berseba Man Gets 15 Years for Child Rape

THE Keetmanshoop Regional Court on Friday sentenced a Berseba man to 15 years to prison for raping an eight-year-old boy .

Ricardo /Hoxobeb (22), who admitted having sex with the boy, was charged with five counts of rape.

Regional Magistrate Sunsley Zisengwe acquitted /Hoxobeb on the other four counts of allegedly forcing two other boys under the age of eight to have sexual intercourse with each other, as there was no satisfactory evidence against him.

/Hoxobeb raped the eight-year-old victim on May 23 2010 at Berseba after luring him and the two other boys to his house.

Sentencing /Hoxobeb, Zisengwe said the victim had endured stigmatisation and trauma after the rape.

State Prosecutor Veiko Alexander prosecuted while Stefan Coetzee represented /Hoxobeb.
