Gambia: Lady Arraigned for Obtaining Goods By Fraud

One Tida Hydara recently appeared before Magistrate Bojang of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, charged with obtaining goods by false pretence, contrary to Section 288 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10, Vol III, Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of offence stated that Tida Hydara, in the month of September 2012 took 240 gallons of palm oil from one Mariama Sire- Bah of London Corner valued at D297, 000 and refused to pay her the said amount, thereby committed an offense. The accused however denied the allegation and was bailed in the sum of D500, 000 with two Gambian sureties.
