Libya: Misrata, Benghazi Officials Killed

A Misrata local councilman was murdered on Saturday (January 26th) while leaving a city centre mosque after Dhuhr prayers, Libya Herald reported. Sheikh Mohamed Ben Othman was shot by two men in a car.

This is the fourth reported murder in the town in less than a fortnight and the third murder in three days.

Naji El-Hariri was killed on January 24th in the latest of a series of Benghazi assassinations. El-Hariri, who participated in the 1969 coup of Moamer Kadhafi, was one of the first to defect from the regime in 2011.
