Gambia: Gamtel Trounce Armed Forces

Gamtel FC recovered from last weekend's opening round defeat to Steve Biko by securing a confidence boosting 3-1 defeat of Gambia Armed Forces in week two of the Gambian domestic league season.

The defeat left the Soldiers pointless after two games following their opening day 1-0 defeat to Bakau United at the Serekunda East Mini-Stadium. The latest game on Saturday was played at the Box Bar Mini-Stadium in Brikama.

For much part of the game, all the bets on the cards was Gambia Armed Forces securing a result from the game after they took a 19th minute lead through talismanic forward Buba Sama in a first half that produced few scoring chances.

Coming into the break, the telecommunication giants continued to trail until just past the hour mark when they pulled level through Sam Gibba who bamboozled the Soldiers defence to slot in from close range in the 62nd minute.

Substitute Hamang Conteh scored the all important go ahead goal nine minutes later before Modou Sarr completed the comfortable scoreline ten minutes from time following a corner kick.
