Local aid agency al-Rayaan of Beledweyne on Saturday (January 26th) began offering free cataract surgeries to residents in need, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
Al-Rayaan's doctors will offer free surgeries for four days, as people have come from throughout the region to take advantage of the opportunity for cataract removal.
More than 200 people received surgeries Saturday and Sunday, according to local officials, and doctors are expected to help more than 500 people.
