Nigeria: Access Bank Appoints Ex-NCC Boss As Non-Executive Director

Access Bank Plc has appointed Dr. Ernest Ndukwe to its board as a non-executive director.

Dr. Ndukwe was the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission between 2000 and 2010.

The appointment has been ratified by the bank's Board of Directors and the Central Bank of Nigeria, a statement from the bank said.

On the appointment, the bank's chairman, Mr. Gbenga Oyebode said "Access Bank is taking giant strides to increase shareholders value and we are quite delighted to have Dr. Ndukwe on board. His exposure and experience will add impetus to our institutional aspiration of becoming Africa's most respected bank.

Dr. Ndukwe has served as the chairman of the Administrative Council of the African Telecommunications Union and chairman of the West African Telecom Regulators Association (WATRA), an organization he pioneered.

He is a graduate of the University of Ife, and an alumnus of Lagos Business School.
