Liberia: In County Meet Final

The most publicized National County Meet featuring players of the fifteen political sub-divisions of Liberia has successfully ended in Monrovia with Grand Cape Mount County clinching the most prestigious trophy as winner of this year's County Meet.

On Sunday, January 27, 2013, Grand Cape Mount was declared winner of this year's National County Meet after defeating the most favorite, Montserrado County in post-march penalty shootout. Regular time ended 1-1.

Montserrado County opened the scoring about 20 minutes into the game but could not withstand the strength of the 'Cassava Leaf Boys'of Cape Mount as they continuously mounted pressure on the Monrovia boys thus finding the equalizer in the dire minutes of the first half.

According to our sport correspondent, both teams paraded their best players that eliminated their opponents in the semi-final. Montserrado flogged Grand Bassa County in post-march penalty to advance to the grand final after regular time ended 1-1 while; Grand Cape Mount County whippedSinoe1-0 to advance to the final of the County Meet recently.

Grand Cape Mount won the grand final 3-1 in post March penalty shootout though Montserrado County which many considered as the favorite had the upper hand in the game.
