Tunisia: AU Summit - Marzouki Confers With Ban Ki-Moon

Addis Ababa — On the sidelines of the 20th African Union (AU) Summit held in Addis Ababa, President Moncef Marzouki conferred on Monday with United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The meeting turned on the latest developments at the economic and social level in Tunisia, means to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, progress in the Constitution drafting and the dates for the next elections, that will put an end to the transition phase.

Besides, President Marzouki and Ban Ki-moon discussed the situation in Mali and Syria and the divergent international positions on these files, laying emphasis in this regard, on the imperative to protect civilians.
