NANDI An athletics manager has been charged in court for inciting members of the public to violence.
Abraham Kipyego Mutai alias Solo, was arraigned before the Kapsabet senior resident Magistrate Benjamin Limo. Mutai was charged that between 18 and 19th January 2013 at Ndaptabwa trading centre, he publicly uttered words that would cause violence and acts of lawlessness by claiming that Henry Rono, the Emg'wen CDF chairman participated in the rigging of votes for a URP candidate.
In the second count, Mutai alias Solo was further charged that on the same date and venue, he publicly pronounced that Rono had misappropriated the constituency development funds.
Appearing composed, the athletics official was represented by lawyer Timon Lel. He denied the charges and was released with a cash bail of ksh. 20,000/=. Mention and fixing of the hearing date would be on the February 24th next month.
