Kenya: Hopeful Pledges to Fund Women

A Nyeri women rep aspirant has promiseed to improve the living standard of women. Rahab Mukami Wachira said if women are given enough funds to start businesses, they can benefit their families and the nation.

The aspirant, who is vying for the seat on the GNU ticket, said he will ensure the youth get jobs and move away from alcohol.

"I will ensure more jobs are created for the youth even if it will be in the jua kali sector to ensure they are active and help in economic building," she added.

Mukami promised to address the plight of single parents, the disabled and elderly. The aspirant was speaking during a GNU meeting at Temple Road Hall in Nyeri town last weekend. Present were GNU secretary general Nderitu Gachagua and Nyeri parliamentary aspirant Duncan Maina Mathenge.
