Uganda: Counters Seen Busy As Trading Opened On Monday

Several counters were seen busy trading at the Uganda Securities Exchange on Jan. 28 after the market recording over sh6bn in turnover.

Umeme was in the lead with over 20mn traded shares, recording the highest turnover of sh6bn. The company's share price closed at sh300 from sh278, earlier.

DFCU's counter traded 2, 215 shares at sh1, 000 per share, recording over 2.2mn in turnover. Stanbic traded 170, 000 shares at sh25 per share, recording sh4.2mn in turnover, Baroda's share price remained flat sh280, trading 1, 480 shares, recording turnover of sh414, 400. Uganda clays turnover was recorded as sh199, 500 after trading 5, 700 shares at sh35 per share.

In total, the market traded over 20mn shares, recording turnover of over sh6bn. Several counters had offers and bids recorded at the close of trading at mid-day.
