Kenya fell 7-4 to Uganda in the inaugural Africa Roll Ball Open at the Moi, Kasarani yesterday.
Uganda scored two hat tricks through Ndawula Andrew and Ian Kalibala with Ivan Mukwaya adding the seventh. Kenya had a hat trick from Alan Amuma alongside Geoffrey Musa's strike in their fight to return back but this was not enough to make any changes to the scoreline against the hard fighting Ugandans.
In the preliminary matches on Saturday, Kenya beat Uganda 8-7 and beat Kenya "B" 7-1, who also fell 13-1 to the visiting Ugandans. The two teams, alongside Ghana will now represent the continent at the Roll Ball World Cup set for Malaysia in May.
Kenyan coach Jared Tobias blamed a lack of concentration and injuries to his key players for the loss. His Ugandan counterpart Thomas Bamuteeze was elated with the win, thanking his players for heeding his advice. "We made several mistakes in our previous matches, which we reviewed and rectified successfully," said Bamuteeze.
